Play Blackjack Online
Blackjack is one of the most popular card games along with Poker. Even if you have no idea how to play, you have heard of it for sure. Most people will know blackjack by its classic game of 21, but there are different variants of the game that were created later, such as Spanish Blackjack or 21 st-century Blackjack.
There are two main types of blackjack American Blackjack and European Blackjack.
Rules may vary amongst casinos and, as a result, creating your own strategy might be more difficult. We suggest looking at different casinos and check if they offer the type of Blackjack that you want to play.
Today in this post,
We will focus on the basic blackjack rules which commonly shared by most types and online casinos.
So, let’s get down to business.
As it happens in Roulette, Blackjack is a game where players play against the house and not against each other, as it happens in Poker.
The objective of this game is to reach 21, which is known as ‘Blackjack’. Both the player, and the dealer will try to get a hand of 21 or close, but without going over this number (busting).
Before the game starts:
The dealer delivers two cards for each player and two cards for the house. The players’ cards are faced up while one of the dealer’s card is faced down. At least, in most casinos.
The players always start the game, and after it is the dealer’s turn. Once the game starts, there are different strategies: to ask for another card, to split the cards or to surrender. The dealer`s movement is the last. After the dealer faces up the hole card… It’s time to check who reaches or is close to 21 or who is over 21 (busting) and leaves the game.
In every hand, players can only ask for another card if the total of the hand is below 17. Any player with a hand over 17 must leave the game.
(If players got a total number above 17 and they asked for another card, there would be a high chance of busting).
Important Blackjack Terms:
The best hand that a player or the dealer can get when playing the game. This hand consists of two cards that sum up a total of 21.
If the hand of two cards goes over 21 is called busting and it’s not valid.
The banker, also called dealer, is the person in charge of handling the cards, supervising the game and collecting the winnings and losses.
The amount of money that the player wants to bet when playing Blackjack.
The minimum and maximum amount that a player can bet in the game. Many casinos will have these limits to protect both the casino and the player.
In blackjack, ‘cut’ or ‘cutting cards’ is a way of splitting cards after shuffling has been completed by the dealer.
A deal happens every time that the dealer hands out cards to the players at the table.
In some variants of blackjack, one card is dealt face up while the second card is dealt face down. This is called Face Down Game. In this variant, the player gets two face-up cards; and the dealer gets one face-up card and one face-down card.
When cards are typically dealt face up for all players to see, it is called Face Up Game or Face-Up Cards.
In the first hand, if both the player and the dealer get “Blackjack”, in other words, a hand of 21 neither of them wins and the money is returned to the player.
A player uses the word “hit” when he/she wants the dealer to give him/her another card.
As we already explained, in some variants of Blackjack, the dealer gets first one face-up card and another face down. The face-down card is known as the ‘hole card’.
Let’s see what this really means:
- Numeral cards 2 to 10: These cards have their same face value. For example, a card with the number ‘5’ counts as 5 points.
- Jacks, Queens, and Kings: The value of these cards it 10.
- Aces: In Blackjack, Aces can have a value of either of 1 or 11. In general, the card value is 11, except when the player can get a hand of 21. In that case, the card value is 1.
