If you play the French wheel using La Partage rule, you will lose only half of your bet if the ball lands on 0. The other half of your bet will be returned to you, so you can use it in your next bet.

"eN pRISON"

En prison rule is an excellent opportunity to recover your stakes in the following case: you bet on (red/black, pair/even, high/low), and the ball lands on 0.

If the balls lands on 0, that means your half your bet “goes to prison”.  This happens because the “en prison” rule is actually a variant of “la partage”. In this case, the bets wait on hold and the house gives you an extra chance to win back the money placed on your bet (outside bet). The goal behind French bets is to try to cover the biggest series of numbers in the wheel with the lowest amount of chips.

In some Premium Roulette variants, you can also make a neighbors bet. Neighbors bets are like “neighbors of zero”, but in this case, you can choose any single number to start with and their “neighbors”. In this case, you don’t need to choose 0.

Jeu Zéro (also known as Zero Spiel), is a reduced version of the Voisins du Zero Bet.

This bet covers a total of 7 numbers: number 0 and 6 numbers adjacent to 0. In this case, you only use 4 chips to place your bets. Place the bets this way:

  • 3 chips on the 0/3, 12/15, 32/35 splits
  • 1 chip on number 26.

Tiers Du Cylindre is also known as Thirds of the Wheel.

This bet covers around one-third of the wheel and is placed on 12 numbers on the opposite side of the wheel to the Voisins du Zéro, between 27 and 33, both numbers included. Place the bets this way:

Total bet is 6 chips.

1 chip on the splits: 5-8, 10-11, 13-16, 23-24, 27-30, 33-36

This bet covers the two slices of the wheel outside the tiers and voisins.

The Orphelins bet covers all the two slices of the wheel outside Voisins du Zero bet and the Tiers du Cylindre. The numbers left on the wheel are — 1, 6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31, and 34.

Also, this type of bet is divided into:

Orphelins en Cheval Bet: Total bet is 5 chips

  • 1 chip on the Splits 6/9, 14/17, 17/20, and 31/34
  • 1 chip on number 1.

Orphelins en Plein Bet: Total bet is 8 chips.

You place one 1 chip on each number of the Orphelins en Cheval Bet 1, 6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31, and 34.

In this case, you place your bets on all the numbers ending in a certain number and you place 1 chip on each number. The bet can be placed as either finales “en Plein” (single number) or finales “a Cheval” (either of two numbers). The stake varies according to the number ending and its possibilities.

For example:

Final 4: A 4-chip bet that consists of one chip placed on each of the numbers ending in 4 (4, 14, 24, and 34)

Final 7: A 3-chip bet, where you place one chip on each number ending in 7 (7, 17, and 27).

Final bets from final 0 (zero) to final 6 costs four chips. Final bets 7, 8, and 9 costs three chips.

French Roulette layout:

The French table layout is a bit different than the American and European tables. The numbers grid is located horizontally across the table. Outside bets are placed on both sides of the table – High, Even, and Black bets are positioned at the top, while and Low, Odd, and Red are on the bottom
